Don Valley Golf Clubs Open But Fitness Parks Still Closed

John Tory stopped by the City’s newly re-opened Don Valley Golf Course this weekend to speak with residents and thank city staff who are working hard to ensure that the safety and wellbeing of golfers.

It’s a good start to see Toronto opening back up.

Don Valley golf course, located at Yonge and Wilson, opened on August 1, 1956. The course is located close to two other private clubs, the Rosedale Golf Club and the Donalda Club.

Meanwhile, fitness parks remain closed off with yellow tape. No calisthenic work outs allowed, and anyone caught exercising on city fitness equipment could face a hefty fine of $880.

Some could argue fitness parks create a higher risk of virus transmission with many people touching the same surface. This could be true. However, in a study by DHS on the effects of sunlight killing the coronavirus, the risk also seems low.

Let’s hope we get lots of sunshine and the City of Toronto removes the yellow tape on fitness parks soon.
